hi, have a'99 f250 v10 4x4 that i'm regearing to 4.30 or 4.56 , should i put in a trac loc . what do you guys think of trac loc? i will be towing heavy and plowing snow ,have 285 tires thanks barry
If you're re-gearing and have the diff open get an Auburn LS in it. I had one in my '99 and it is so much better than the stock LS setup that's in my '03. Ford likes the Auburn limited slip too, it comes in the police package on the Crown Vics.
I would use anything other than a clutch LS. I have a detroit and love it for plowing and towing but many go with a gear LS. The detroit is so quiet I forget its back there. Plowing in 2wd is nice.
On edit: I carry 6k of sand in the back.
ok, which do you think, 4.30 or 4.56 ??? will be towing heavy around town , and it's kind of hilly . anybody have 4.56 with 285's ?? won't be going any bigger with the tires thanks barry
About 5 days ago I called a shop on an LS unit price, right now he recomended Auburn LS unit he say it has a 4 yr waurantee, if anything goes wrong with it, they will replace it,,,, but wont pay for any labor, it was like $ 700.00 installed, he said it was a good unit .
