Painting Dump Body
Well the dump body on my 550 is nasty(only 2 years old also), so i want to sandblast and paint it. Looking for info on sandblasting, what kind of mess, what size "sandblaster" should I look for, anything. Also what type of paint would last the longest/most durable. I want to color match the red of the cab. Any help would be appreciated

i would enlist in some help from a sandblasting shop you would need a large sand blaster and it would need a lot of media making a huge mess. and as for the paint i have seen ads in truck magazines about body colored spray on bed liners that stuff is pretty durable. i dont know if that is "best" but i think it would do the job. good luck

The real skinny is not to breath in silica while sand blasting. The best and cheapest thing might be to take it to a local Maaco and have them strip it to bare metal for you. Then hand prime it with a primer meant for bedliner and then paint it with bed liner. Check out this link:

If you are really patient, a right angle grinder with the wire wheel on it can be used to strip the paint. Sandblasting that large of an area will make a massive mess and silica dust is dangerous and causes a well known lung condition called silicosis. If this is really the only thing you need to have blasted, I would sub it out to a paint shop, or use the wire wheel and buff it one side at a time. It shouldnt take but about an hour or so to buff each side.
