For the record... (winter questions)
The sky has been described pretty well here. As for smell, there definitly is a unique smell before most big storms but I'd be hard pressed to describe it very well. All I can say is that it is really cool (pardon the pun).
Love the winter, snow, cold and all. Only downfall is it cuts into my motorcycle ride time a bit.

As far as the snow goes, it's easy to tell around here. First sign...innaccurate weather report leads to the masses buying all of the bread, water and batteries in the tri-state area two weeks ahead of time. Then, something happens to the drivers. Even bfore the snow hits, the roads are coateed with every no-driving goober that should never own a car. Then we'll get an inch or two after a report that the snow fall accumulations would be catastrophic and everyone goes nutso like it's the end of the world while places like Buffalo, Michigan and Canada just shake their heads and laugh.
After it snows though, it's unmistakable in the city. The clouds turn to an orange shade from the city lights, the refineries and the lights in Fallujah...er, I mean Temple University. Then there's that thing that happens to the city too....what's that called....oh, that's right...it looks clean. Now I remember. Not enough snow to live in a clean city this year.
But what about the halo around the moon the night before a snow? Anyone ever hear that that's what you're supposed to look for?

I think i might make a trip some day to somewhere where there are 4 seasons, and snow. The gulf coast absolutely sucks...ive lived here my whole life, and i dont really know any different, but i do know it sucks.
Wait...i went to colorado for field camp....i have seen snow on the ground in real life. Im still left unsatisfied however.
