How in the hell am I supposed to get this thing off. Can't seem to get to the top bolt thats holding it on. Any help appreciated. Motor is a 400.
I like a u-joint on the end of a long extension. air tools are nice too but not neccessary. Oh and patience helps, if you get frustrated just walk away for awhile. Usually when you try again it seems the moons align and everything falls into place.
Like Chris said, patience is essential and a wide array of socket extensions is equally important. In changing my starter, once I found the "correct" combination of extensions, the job was very simple.
I found it a REAL bitch in my 78 with a Cleveland, oh god it was horrible, I used a wrench through my fender and maybe moved the bolt head a 1/8 of a turn each time. Just keep at it and you'll eventually get it

That's how you get at the starter on a Mustang !
Everybody knows that trick *grin*
