Deisel problem

Hello, Just join the group and I thought you guys could help me with my problem. I have a 97 f250 with power stroke diesel. The other morning i started the truck and let it warm up and back it down the drive way. When I put it in drive it died. This happened several times in when truck was put in drive. But reverse works fine. There is no service engine light or transmission codes. Then all of the sudden two days latter the trucks starts and drives fine. Any help?

Welcome to the diesel forums.

The camshaft position would be the most likely suspect.

It's easy. Takes abut 10 minutes. The part cost's about $100 from the International dealer, nearly double that from Ford. A few folks have gotten them off e-bay for ~$50.

If you're going to buy a new CPS you may want to check out these threads. There's alot of info running around about this new blue CPS from International. Alot of people are reporting good things. Hope this helps. And welcome to FTE, keep reading and reading. Let us know when you're addicted to the info and mods. My bet is before February.
