Hey all! Has anyone used the Fumoto Engine Oil Drain Valve, or the Fram Sure Drain? Since I'm Finally going to start changing my own oil, this seems like it would be great - having a hose drain the oil right into the container! As always, any help is appreciated
I've never used them beacuse I am concerned about having something hanging off of the oil pan. If you hit it you could loose all of your oil very quickly. Obviously, many folks have good things to say about these drain valves and I do not know of a single instance where my concern has actually occured but I suspect it has.
I've used the Fumoto valve in my '97 Subaru Outback (currently at 160k miles) and love it. I can change my oil with zero tools in 12 minutes including cleanup. Trying now to find the right size for the Fumoto for my new '06 Ranger, see my post from tonite. The Fumoto guys are great though, I got their machine when I called and was surprised to get a call back from them later on in the evening. I think a very quality product despite the confusion over the right size for my '06 2.3L Ranger.
I commute almost 200mi/day, so just don't have the time to go into any shop for an oil change, so I do it at home about every 2 1/2 weeks. Would be a nuisance without the Fumoto.
