That tailgate fits 42-50 half-ton pickups. Nice to see an owner who doesn't try to appear all-wise when he/she doesn't now for sure what they have.
Looks like the hinge pivot pins might be stuck in the bottom roll, but otherwise seems pretty decent.

Just got my new issue of Classic Trucks yesterday and one of the feature trucks has the same gate on his '55. I wonder about the extent of modifications to make it fit.
I agree that the picture alone would make a nice wall hanging....In the garage of course. I'd be killed if I hung it in the house.

I like the "Script" gate on the newer truck. Now if you could only graft the front end sheet metal and cab you would have one nice looking truck 
Just kidding, I think the Ford script is a lot nicer that block letters.

I agree. The script tailgate is a classy look. Even if you were to graph the script from that beat up gate onto an NOS tailgate, you'd be in good shape. As far as modification to get that tailgate to fit a '55, I don't think any mods would be needed. My old man bought his '55 with the script taigate in 1972. I always thought it was the original tailgate. Never had any problems with the tailgate not "looking" correct, fit wise.
