fore warning for any of you guys going to change out your spring hangers, better have a torch. finally got mine installed, and i couldnt save anything, had to burn out the old bushing, burn the spring bolt, the rivet head, gas tank strap bolt heads. make sure youve got a good punc for punching the rivets out of the frame once you get the hangers off. i got my hangers from napa for 28 a pop. https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...101031&width=0https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...101033&width=0 shouldof seen the old ones, the springs were ridding on the bottom of the bed, not a fun ride.
you should have replaced the shackles at the same time.
i use a grinder, a little too close to fuel for me.
i was at a junkyard last year and they were torching on a cadillac sts, it started on fire, gas tank imploded just before they dumped the whole car in a pond to put it out. it was real cool to see.

Man, that sounds like a PITA! I am about to replace the bushings on my 95. You said you had to use a torch the get your old bushings out? I wonder if I will have to do the same. Will one of those little hand held deals work? Or do I need a real torch? Luckily a friend has one if its really neccessary.
one of the propane ones should work fine, just get the end melted, and on fire, then start heating up the eyelet of the spring, just let it burn, that how i did it anyway. there was no way we could have got them out while it was in the truck, we would have had to take the springs out put them on the press, to much work for me.
i just did the whole sha bang:new grade 8 bolts everywhere, front and rear hangers, poly bushings...my hangers were fine, only that whoever touched them last destroyed them with a torth (huge freakin holes), used grade 2 bolts (all rusted together, tiny diameter, bent, one either broke off or forgot to put one in), backward shackles. i am still cursing
