You are so right on the right hand drive, it`s actually not an Englishman but an Aussie.
Here`s more of this sweet ride in his nice gallery, give him a good rating on the gallery: https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...&albumid=31291

You know of course that at one time we all not only drove on the wrong side of the road, but the cars had steering wheels/tillers on the right side. This was from 1897 thru circa 1910 on some vehicles. One stubborn US automaker (Pierce-Arrow) kept the steering wheel on the right side till 1920.

'ol Henry was stubborn, too. It wasn't till the mid 1920's that Model T's got a door on the left side that opened. All there was before, was the outline of a door. Ford didn't have door lock cylinders on the left side till 1949 on cars, 1953 on trucks (optional). Both of these archaic ideas were because 'ol Henry didn't think it was safe to exit the left side of the vehicle.

There is the old joke around about the political party that wants to return to the English ways and have everybody drive on the left-hand side of the road, but to make the transition easier, for the first year it would be buses and trucks only.

Bill, they had passenger door locks before 1953 on the trucks. I'm pretty sure it was optional on the 1948 and up. I know for a fact it was on the 51 and 52's. Here's a pic: The cylinder isn't in the door in this pic but the hole is clearly shown.

Nathan, Bill is mentioning driver side door locks, not door locks in general. Go see if any of your trucks have door locks on the driver side.

And on edit: your 5 star cab just might. I remember seeing a 51 or 52 in an old Truckin' magazine that had a driver side door lock, and I think it was a 5 star.
