I came accross this '86 4x4 for $300, it's kinda fugly but the claim is that everything drivetrain wise works. EXCEPT the front-right hub is bent. I am new to 4wd, what exactly is involved in correcting this?
Also, the guy said it has the 6 cyl inline motor. I cannot find anything about that on your site. I found elsewhere that it was an optional 300ci (4.9L) engine. It's a manual tranny.
The locks dont work, the windows dont work, the radio is gone, the inside door panel is gone, the paint is krylon or rustolium LOL... like I said, fugly, but I don't care.
Hi there, welcome aboard! Im not 100% sure on the hub question but im sure someone who knows better will come along answer this for ya. Um where did you hear about this 300ci 4.9 lt engine? The bronco II's came with either a 2.8 lt or a 2.9lt v6. How many miles does the truck have? These bronco II's are fun youll have a blast with it!
well now i feel stupid http://www.automotive.com/1986/09/ford/bronco/
That's where I saw it and I SWEAR the guy said it was an inline 6, but that site I think lists Bronco's and B2 together. I'll have to look at it later in person.
Not uncommon for some to confuse full size broncos and BII's. Your '86 will have a 2.9 L V6 EFI engine. As for the hub question, since you are new to 4x4's, I'm going to have to ask you to be specific about what is bent. Just the "cap" that sticks through the center of the wheel, or the spindle on which the rotor and wheel bearings ride or the axleshaft or what?
Yes it was a 2.9 motor.
The truck was hardly drivable, almost no breaks the pedal goes to the floor, power steering was very very VERY loose, the thing smelled like it was passing alot of unburned fuel.
I did some reading before going to look at it. The hub looked fine, so my guess is the spindle was what was bent, the truck pulled to that side horribly.
There was no title, no previous bill of sale, he said there was one previous owner and I showed him THREE by looking in the glove box.
Someone else showed up that was willing to pay more. so i walked
you musta seen the same one i did before i got mine lol the one i saw as a 2.8 1984 geeze was that thing fresh out of the ghetto breaks almost to the fool no a/c or anything electrical related but the blower basicaly worked at all smoke came in from the vents in the cab?? lol that tells you somthing i pulled to the right ALOT and i do know the 2.8 isnt known for power at all but this thing woulndt beat a dodge reliant my dad had it to the floor and it went about criusing speed lol
chadrules
