My 87 BII (manual) runs fine in town, but get it out on the open road and it starts choking. You have to open the throttle up all the way to get it to stop, but it will come right back after you let off. Fuel filter and return filter have both been changed, the air charge temperature sensor is brand new too (it was 19 years old, figured it couldn't hurt). I tried pulling codes, in the key on engine off test all it does is run my fuel pumps, test sticks their. In the key on engine on test it says everything is fine, but I don't trust it with the other test not working. Oh, the exhaust is about 3 years old, so that SHOULDN'T be clogged, doesn't mean that it isn't though. Anyone have any ideas?
Yeah, I read how you do it and I read the manual. my email is trvwilkins@yahoo. com, if you could send me a copy on how to do the pinpoint test I would really appreciate it. I don't have time to keep monkeying with this thing. I have an Econ essay to finish and two finals to take by midweek.
It was a combination of aircharge temp sensor and bad injectors. I replaced those and everything was fine for about half an hour. Then I started losing fuel pressure again. Gas was leaking out of the filter canaster on the fuel return line. No problem I though, ill just go get a new filter and gasket. PROBLEM, the filter that all of the parts stores have listed for my bronco wont fit, its too big around and not tall enough, the gasket is too big around too. I finally track down the right filter through Kragen, but they can't get it, none of their warehouses have it in stock. No other part store can get it ether, its like this thing doesn't exist.
