I've come to realize that my truck gets about 4 mpg worse than it should when its cold, but I live only about 8-10 min away from work, and I don't have time to wait for it to warm up in the morning, or any other time. I've heard of preheating blankets, or somethin like that, I'm wondering if anyone knows about these options. thanks
Try installing a `Tank Heater` in the coolant hose to the truck heater. I had one in Minesota long ago and loved it ...Truck defrosters worked at the first crank ...
Not very common in Calif ..

LAST EDITED ON 31-Oct-01 AT 01:29 PM (EST)[p]I had an inline coolant heater that I just tore out (truck is in garage all the time)
It was from a John Deere 60 horsepower tractor
Attach to the left line going to the heater core and the bottom of the inline heater to the drain plug in the block.
Hope that helps!
edit - i think you gotta put these on a timer, as they will burn out if used for too long. They are very powerful!
Thats what we do with all our tractors; set timer to come on a couple hours before we want to start it!
