Cruise Control????

Has anyone else experienced their truck sort of hesitating when you put the cruise control on? My truck doesn't do it normally, but when I turn on the cruise control, it seems like it hesitates a bit and jerks around (forward and backward). Is the cruise control going out, or is it something else? Any insight is appreciated. *smiles*

Mine doesn't jerk around. But when I set it then let off the pedal the truck will coast a bit before the cruise takes over and brings it back up to the set speed.

Ditto... My 02 would maintain current speed when SET was pressed. My 05, drops about 5 or 6mph and then floors it to get back to my set point.

Mine does that too...but that's not exactly what I mean. When my cruise is set, the truck CONTINUALLY jerks around. Almost like a belt that's catching on something.....

My '04 cruise works fine with light loads. BUT, put a heavy load on it, and in in tow/haul; the cruise lags real bad in picking up the throttle.

Hit the bottom of a hill on an interstate and start going up the next hill...... I wonder if the cruise will ever pick-up again even though I'm slowing down like mad when starting up the hill!

When the cruise finally kicks back in, it's like wide open throttle to try to get caught up again.

You'd have figured that tow/haul mode would send the cruise a message to pick up earlier during slow downs..but apparently not.

Meanwhile, I have to help with the pedal comming out of the bottom and starting up the hill.

IMHO, another one that Ford engineers missed altogether.

EXACT same thing was happening to my 05...usually when I hit resume from around 5 MPH below what the system was set to. Jerking was the main problem but then it also would accelerate past the set speed by 5 MPH and hold it there. Took it to the shop the first time and got some b/s about a ground wire...you can guess it didn't fix it. Second time they said they reflashed my control box...it worked! When I asked the service manager if they flash my entire computer he couldn't tell me! The CC is working fine, just got off a 2500 mile sligh ride for Christmas and it worked great the entire time. Big Red chewed up and spit out I-10 and I-20 from Jacksonville, Fl to Dallas, Tx and many points! Just remember if you going in to the dealer...detune your truck!!!

The cruise control on these vehicles is not up to snuff.

I never understood why Ford does not have the TC lock up and use the torque available in the V10 and 6.0 to maintain speed. Seems like a big "duh" to me on the programming side of the cruise program.

actually now that they fixed my C/C it works great. I engage it even when I am pulling my 30 ft camper! When I am empty the only gauge that moves is the boost gauge when I am climbing hills.
