HI
I recently bought a Gold colored Y-block engine to use in my f-100 project. Does anyone now what it is. It has not been repainted. i`m not sure it comes from a truck. I´m told it´s a 292.
I thought the 292 Y war red (Like in the T-Bird) Yellow/Gold I belive is a 272 (Yellow) If it is Gold I have no clue. You might ask Earl (Moderator) he is great!

The engine colors have more to do with year and application than engine size I think. What year is the engine? I know the 1956 truck engines were all a fairly bright yellow with black accents and silver rocker arm covers.
I can´find the casting number. I have looked in all known places. All i can find is 6015C above the oil filter. The casting number should be right beside, but there is nothing. The color is more like gold metallic than yellow.
Mine is upside down above the generator on the block. It depends on where the block was made where its marked. I think some are near the distributor, but maybe thats later engines.
