I have a 351 Windsor in a '77 LTD with a strange problem. In general it runs fine, but every once in a while the motor will shake for a bit then kill. It will start right back up and the problem won't be there. The shake feels like a miss. The problem is sudden, rare to occur, and goes away when I restart. I've put a new coil on, and the fuel level in the carb is good. The choke is not sticking. I'd say a couple times lately, the engine feels like it has a slight miss when first started in the morning. This shaking then killing problem, however, has occurred when the engine has had time to warm up. I can't think of what could be wrong. Any ideas?
In case this is of later use to someone, I pulled off the ignition module and had it bench tested at Autozone. Their machine runs about 8 or so tests and my module failed all but one. I replaced it, and the engine hasn't killed yet...I would also say the car seems to start easier. Hopefully this fixes my problem and thank you ken75ranger for responding.
