Who has heard a bad exhaust system on a PSD?
Can some say "the Magnaflow XX is a lower tone than the Summit XY" of this one is quieter, or louder than. . .?
Has anyone installed an exhaust on their truck turned up the volume and then switched it out because it was out of tune? if so which were the two you tried?
Three reasons, first is there really that big a difference between brands of exhaust?
second, not everyone is looking for the same ideal sound,
third, I realize that everyone who owns an exhaust wants to beleive they made the right choice but if there is a difference, and if there is a perfect pitched exhaust we all didn't win the lottery.
And for those of you that did do real world trial and error installs, do you notice the difference 6 months later rolling down the highway? We all realize that in a movie, all the THX, Dolby, surround, 5.1/6.1/7.1 effects are tweaked in th first 10 minutes of the movie track after that nobady notices the details.
The only complaint that I have read about is what some call a "droan" sound at a certain speed/rpm. Turbo harmonics I guess A couple of manufactures have done a good job, either by luck or R&D, eliminated most of these harmonics. Sorry, I can't tell you who they are but I'm sure someone else will come up with the name.

Aeroturbine and Banks both eliminate drone. Note how similar Banks's muffler is to the design of the Aeroturbine design....hmmmm..interesting. When i installed my 4"SS MBRP without the new jody chip the drone really sucked while towing
9000lb camper...couldn't hear yourself think at certain rpm's(about mid-range
or 1750rpm's)...translated to about 58mph.

So do you get the "droan" with the BTM on a stock exhaust?
I think I might give one of these a try. http://www.holley.com/products.asp?product=21509HKR $64.95 from Summit. I want to open up the exhaust, but don't want the drone. I got enough of that back in the old days, with the all favorite Thrush mufflers. If they do what Hooker says, it might sound and work good.
I believe KWik said he had drone with the 3.5" and BTM. He tow's heavy 5'er.
Yes I did. It was most obnoxious at 2000 rpm. The new exhaust helped a lot. It moved up to about 2200. Completly goes away at 2400. That's good because I'm at 69 mph and that's where I like to cruise, empty or towing.
I have a Hearthrob 5" system on out '99 and have been pretty happy with it. I did hollow the muffler though to make it a straight system, but it sounds good. Does anyone else run one of these?
I am looking at the aluminized MBRP cool duals and wonder if it sounds different in the cab versus the single system. Also, does it affect the spare tire or does it have to be removed?
