Yes, I was talking about on the steering box also. The return line uses a regular hose clamp on the pump. On the rubber hose set I have from CPP the return hose only has a threaded fitting on the box end and is rated for 300 PSI, the high pressure hose has threaded fittings on each end and is rated for 2250 PSI. Also the hoses from CPP come with several adapters to fit almost any pump and adapters to fit the Toyota steering box.

Sorry Roger, I was answering lt56's question about his pump fitting. I think that rubber hose kit is the same one MF sells, I tried it first, but the return hose was still too tall and hit the header. There possibly is two versions of the Toy box out there, one like I have with the 16 and 17 mm fitting, and one with two 16mm fittings??? The 16mm fitting fits into the 17 mm side but it's sloppy, some might try wrapping some sealing tape around it, the 17mm won't fit into the 16mm side tho. It is confusing because the MF kit uses a specially machined 17mm steel bushing. No one but Toyota and Gotta Show makes a 17mm fitting that I could find, and Toyota's is a slip over tube for a hose clamp not a threaded fitting.

AXracer, you are the first one I have talked to that had different size ports on the steering box. Do you know what year Toyota 4x4 it is from? I was told mine came from a 1984. There is no slop in the fit of either hose in either port on mine. They both tighten securely.

I have not tried the CPP hoses yet, so I don't know if the adapters are a good fit yet.

Brain fade yet again,(note to self dont post late at night)on the BOX i recieved the hole higher on box and inermost is 12 mm the lower hole closest to frame when mounted is 16 mm.16 mm measured by slipping an end wrench over fitting. I would guess that to be fairley close.smaller hose measured same way at 12mm

OK, the measurements I'm using are for the threaded portion of the fittings. Unscrew the fitting and see what size wrench the threaded portion slips into if you don't have a calipers to measure with. (everyone should have a dial or digital type caliper in their tool box. 6" digital that can switch measurements in inches or mm at the press of a button and can be used for outside or inside measurements are available on ebay for as little as 10.00)
Does your box have a mounting flange with 4 holes under the pitman shaft housing? Can you post a picture?

I can't say for certainty right now, I bought the box a little over a year ago. But when I went looking for hoses to solve my header clearance problem, I talked to the head engineer at Gates hoses and at Gotta Show as well as MF and they all confirmed that the ports are 16mm on the pressure side and 17mm on the return side according to Toyota specs. That 17mm fitting was the problem child, since in the OEM setup there is no reason not to use the slip over and clamp fitting for the return hose Gates didn't offer a direct screw in return hose, and Toyota didn't offer the fitting as a spare part. If the CPP hose set is the same one MF sells, there is a specially machined steel 17mm to AN fitting bushing in the kit.

AXracer, I checked the hose from Gotta Show and they are both equal in size on the threaded fitting at a little under 16 MM using a digital caliper. I checked the adapter fittings from CPP and they are different sizes. No doubt the Gotta show hose would have leaked under pressure.

Thanks for the tip. I installed the adpters from CPP using the larger one in the low pressure port. I like the fact that the hose set from CPP already has the fittings on both ends of the high pressure hose with adapters for each end. Not as showy in rubber vs stainless braid, but functional.
