The heads on certain interceptor were better castings and close to Cobra Jet heads I thought? which are pretty nice.. I'd throw a huge turbo or two on it so heads would prolly matter less...
You will pay a grip of cash for those cast iron heads, where you can spend a couple of grand on a nice set of aluminum heads that are soooo much better.
Yeah I know.. that old iron is really strong and warp resistant under a bunch of boost .. aluminum will allow more boost with same octane fuel. I would most likely only use if I got really cheap. Porting stock 460 heads, cam, custom intake, and add turbo/turbo's and the drivetrain is where I will need to spend a little cash...
If I was going for more than 500hp.. I would just build an all aluminum 4.6 dohc.. block crank and heads(with massage) are capable of 1000hp all day long (might only be certain cranks..you'ld be surprised.. but not really sure) billet oil pump gears.. nice pistons and rods.. They can be awesome engines to build on the cheap 800-1000 hp on boost.. some stock pieces are sooo strong.. I also love the look of them..
