I have a 2000 Ford Excursion with about 85,000 miles on it. Recently the oil pressure needle had been dancing inside the gauge droping to 0 turning the oil light on breifly, then jumping up to High, then normall once more. Before, It had started once the engine was warm, and now it will do it much sooner.
I thought maybee the oil sending unit was at fault, so I picked up one; unsure where it goes. I see something that looks like it, but unsure. Its on the drivers side down low.
Anyone have any words of wisdom about where exactly it is, or other possibllities why its acting so crazy??
The oil pressure sensor is on the left side of the motor near the front.
Open the hood and stand by the left front tire. Looking over the top of the power steering reservoir you'll see it in front of the exhaust manifold. It's the only sensor in that area.
