Well then the lifters like you ...hehe ....But if it happens do not panic they are so known for that .....just tighten them down or do whatever others on here have done to them i just run them with 705 Kleen Flo and it's ok for me.................. Welcome to the forum ...TR
Castol SYNTEC Blend here. At the moment I'm running 5W30. When I got this BII the valvetrain ticked like it was going to fall out. Since I've been running the SYNTEC Blend it's drastically reduced. I've always liked blends in my ATV's & motorcycles and I'm glad I switched to it in my cars too. At less then $3.50 a quart it's cheap protection. I'll have to do another report in few years to share what the long term results are.
Haha. I use 10w30 in mine, synthetic blend, Mobil1. Err.. I did before it all ran out on the road and in a parking lot.. but I'm taking apart everything and porting and polishing and new lifters and all that fun stuff. Hopefully no ticking then.
Some people also have luck with MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil).
that great and all but none of you guys are getting rid of lifter tick greatly reduced but still there. only way of changing that is to replace oil pump screen. just my two cents

Plenty of pressure in my rig, if the screen was plugged I woudln't have the psi I do. The damage is basically done, all some of us can do now is de-slug the lifters a little. To get rid of the tick all together I'd have to replace the them.
Wally World 10w 30 ST. synthetic year round.No lifter tic in my 89 BII with ?32000 miles. Good stuff and it does not cost a lot!!!{motorcraft or wix oill filter,Wally World filters are ok too}
I use 20-50 out here in the Desert. My bronco has well over 200,000 miles on it, and it works great. The ticking was horrible when I got the BII (about 130,000 miles). When I put 20-50 in it the ticking reduced by at least half.
