Molybdenum Additive
Back in the 80's I used to add a gallon, (about 10%)
with each oil change to my big diesels, 8V92 and 400 Cummins. Can't say that it ever did anything for fuel mileage or performance but it definitely reduced friction. Bering changes at 500,000 miles would show bearings with almost no wear marks.
here look at my oil sample it shows what my delo has in it and then other oil averages used in psd's..

Here's some good info on Schaeffers oil... i quote a post in the BITOG forum:
Schaeffers Series 9000 5W-40 motor oil

>I just spoke with a friend who is a Schaeffer factory rep in another state. He is selling a lot of Schaeffer #9000 5W-40 to independent trucks and small truck fleets. They are finding good fuel savings with it. One trucker is changing the #9000 twice a year, and he runs 120,000-130,000 miles a year...and good lab analyses of his oil. 60,000 mile oil drain with $15 oil, plus fuel savings, is a real bargain. This rep is getting good analyses in his Ford gasser pickup at 16,000 mile oil drain intervals and Schaeffer 5W-30 premium syn blend.
There are different qualities of base oils, even of the same group. Shell Rotella-T syn is decent. Schaeffer knows that they have to use the best products to make their oil, or their small, independent company will die. It hasn't...it's increasing shipment volumes at least 10% a year.<O

I just checked my credit card online. A case of six gallons of the 9000 was 89.68 on my door step. So the shipping worked out to be about a buck a gallon. 14.95 per gallon with the shipping. A good price in my book.

I wonder if to much Moly can hurt a Power stroke?
I think I saw a mention on the Chevron site about Moly in Delo 400 I think but it was a very small amount per gallon, not like this stuff that I have.
I still changed my oil once a month or every 10,000 as I was looking for longevity, not more MPG or oil savings. (No way to save money with a large car)
I think I'll give International a call tomorrow and see what they have to say on the subject.
I called our local International dealer and they said, (as I expected), whoa!, don't be using no Moly---It will make your seals leak. I kind of doubt that as a lot people on this forum and other forums can attest too.
They also recommended just using plain vanilla Shell Rotella as that what Ford recommends. Sounded like to me that they were just CYA.
I think I will throw out my old stuff and make the next change with either Delo 400 or Rotella-T
Thanks for the input.
