does anyone know where i can find a good rebuild manual or somthing similar for a borg warner 1356 t-case. i have a chiltons or haynes book but not satified for the details and level of information given by it
i have the manual shift case. though looking at it, if one really wanted to you could change it over from manual to electric or visa virsa, and then i have the slip yoke.
does anyone know if the driveshafts changed in lengh from the slip in or bolt on
a friend found a t-case for me for cheap but it has the flange instead of a slip yoke
Because they use different shift cams, You may be able to convert the slip yoke to flange style it would be close to the right length you would have to measure to be for sure. Or go find the right drive shaft. These are very easy to rebuild with the proper tools.
Also some of the tail housings were shorter, Do you have the model number and build date from the stamped tag?
I have a few of these where abouts are you from, you could PM me to not give that info publicly.
I bought a Helms manual for my 95 4x4 CC diesel. Very detailed and complete. While I was putting in an LUK sm F/W, went ahead and did a rebuild on the 1356. You will need good snap ring pliers as witdog said.
I put pictures of the 1356 in my gallery, The T/C that would bolt in your truck I believe is a 4406, you have to change the 2 hole linkage rod to the longer one,and may have a drive shaft mod. Its a lot heavier T/C with aluminum case instead of Mag.
