I am kinda feeling stupid right now. My dad and I were out front pulling bushes out by hooking my truck to the bushes with a chain, and I took off I kept going but the chain was still hooked to my bumper! It didnt break the bolts it broke at the welds where the hangers are, it broke passanger side first and then curled over and hit the bed on the drivers lower half in the back, I done lots of body work there, which I will now have to redo again. This goes to show to make sure before pulling any heavy items to check the bumper.
Sounds like you have a cheaper version of a bumper. That would not happen to a good quality bumper. FYI: The rear bumpers on these trucks are were installed at the dealer and the quality varied.
Speaking of which, since you've got a little easier access right now to the frame below the bed, you might want to think about welding on a hitch of your own. Just be careful around the gas tanks!

That bumper looks really nice, I wonder who that one's far.lol
I was thinking of possibly welding on shackles like that or a 2" reciever or possibly both, on a 4" square pipe bumper, what you think kubota and guys?
been there done that before. i eneded up building one last year. i use 3/4'' steel brackets and the rest of the bumper is made from 5/8'' steel plate. the problem is its stronger than the truck lol. it took 4 guys to lift it up and center it. i figure 350 lbs easy. paid .30 a pound for the steel.
