ok maybe this has been talked about but i can't seem to find it. i have a flex a lite fan on my engine, which is coming apart. so i have been trying to find a stock fan for an FE with the clutch. so far i have been able to find a new clutch but have been to 10 different junk yards and none of them have the fan. where could i get a fan new or used? also would a fan from a 460 work? i know the mounts on the pump are different but the fans seem to use the same square mounitng pattern to mount the fan to the clutch. Or if somene has one just PM me thanks.
AFAIK the clutch fan blade from any Ford V8 will hook to the fan clutch, that should expand your search options some. You do need to watch the diameter, there were several sizes.
the isssue here is the way the junkards stack the cars and drop them. the fans bend when they do this and the bent fans are useless. the stock diameter is 18'' with 19'' being a option. thanks.
Hey Mike which flex-a-lite are you having problems with? I researched stock fan blade diameter and came up with 19in diameter as stock. Let me know about that flex-a-lite as I purchased that 10K rpm 400-1319 in the jegs book for my new engine and I dont want to have to watch it every time I get in the truck. Sorry to hear your having problems with it. Oh and hows that hand coming along?
Well it dosnt matter on mine any way because I grabbed the fan clutch and guess what. My new fan blade only goes on a spacer and I want to use a clutch so its return time on the blade and I guess im in the same boat as you I need a new fan blade. I had a 72 c/s 7 blade on it and I liked it so off to the wrecking yards and ebay. I wish you luck with yours
I have tried a few fans on my 390 and like the 19'' with the heavy duty thermal clutch and I've seen a couple on ebay lately.Mine I discovered to have aluminum blades...paint stripper and some polish even made it purty.
