I have an 88 Ranger that I replaced the outer tie rod ends on. I replaced them because of obvious wear. Before replacing them , the truck seemed very unstable going into curves carrying any speed much at all. When you would go down the road and weave the truck back and forth , it seems to have a lot of , what I would call body roll . I also replaced the front shocks , and inspected and re-greased the front wheel bearings. After doing this , the truck still feels the same when you weave back and forth. I would greatly appreciate any input from anyone. Thanks in advance.
fyre 82 - The 88 Ranger is a 2 wheel drive , regular cab , neither lifted or lowered , with the stock 2.9 liter V6. Yes , the wheel bearings were re-torqued and rotors seated correctly. It could use a front end alignment. Thanks for the info about the strut arm bushings. I'll check into that.
i have one too 88 ranger, they need a sway bar.... that truck wasnt made to ride like a caddy....lol
I have to agree here. A Rear sway bar is a must to make them handle right. I have a 89, and I just put one on mine. It makes all the difference in the world. I pulled one off a 86 Bronco II, and it bolted right up. The sway bar uses a U bolt clamp on the Axle Tube, and the holes for the arms are already drilled in the frame.
