i think a few of us very heavy right feet and right hands. but i to seem to be having a problem with premature rear tire wear.it's more seen since we got done with the dyno tuning and setting up the sct excalibrater 2.
if it's wet out i need to use 4x4 for some crazy reason i can't figure out yet.
when i start off and get to about to start moving it breaks loose real bad, come to think of it, it happens when it's dry out also, 5mph roll kick it and the back ends goes out. some thing is wrong with the rear axles in these v10 trucks. seems to be a problem called tiresmokeitis.
tires thanks to fred ,i just stayed with the 17's and got some real nice bfg at's. the 18's well tirerack has a few cures for that problem that work out real nice and have some real good at threads.
happy new years guys.

how corrrect. support group for our wallets. esp. when on s.s. guess i'll just get the local truck tire shop to cap my rears. and detune it for the winter. thinking of winter. o.k. north east coasters who ordered more snow? it's white out again.
enough of this white stuff now.
A lead foot amputation can be readily accomplished by anyone with a chain saw in about 30 seconds. A discount store chain saw at $119.95 is still cheaper than a pair of rear tires. The tires will wear out. The lead foot will not regrow. I would think that any owner who saved $5K on his engine would be able to do the math.

Ouch... I'm cringing just thinking of that.
Back when I got my '01, they couldn't sell the darn thing w/a V10 after someone ordered it and backed out when they realized they couldn't put a plow (under warranty) on a "heavy-service suspension" vehicle.
So I got that V10 at more than $8000 less than a comparable diesel model. How's THAT for savings?
I'm not even going into how I got the 4-year lease payed for by the company I work for and get to buy it in 6 months for <$9K w/23K miles on it.
PS. How do you get jobs like that. I'm Union and I have to buy my own truck.

I'm a computer consultant.
I've been one since I was 17 and dropped out of high school to take a job offer. Yes, I was offered a job at a consulting firm before I even graduated high school.
I worked on computers from the age of 12, every day, every chance I got, to the point of not doing homework/projects/essays.
After I left high school, I put the nose the grindstone, and now (23 years later) I work from home for a Fortune 100 company (number 80 something), another Fortune 500 company, and a few little ones.
So, the consulting firm I work for takes money I earn, and puts it on the lease which was negotiated so as to get the lowest buy-back at the end. Then we turn it around, and I buy it outright personally.
But, now that I think about it, maybe I can trade it in and get a 3-valver at the end of the lease, I should be able to shave, what, $10K or so off the sticker.
Depends on whether I want to stay in the job I am in now, or forge out on my own and try it solo (which would be much better for me mentally).

"You'll never get rich working for someone else, making them rich". If you're the type who can motivate themselves enough to be your own boss, that's very admirable. Me, I'm too lazy, so I need the threat of being fired to get me up every morning. Other than the fact that I sit in a beautiful, high rent office on a trading floor and talk to my friends all day while reaping in huge sums of money that is,,,, Hey, someone has to do it right ?
Where can I find oem 20 take offs I will gladly buy or trade someone low mileage 18" conti even for half worn 20's DO NOT TRY CONTI OUT IN THE PASTURE NEXT TO THE POND YOU MIGHT FIND YOUR BEHIND GOING IN THE POND! I have never had problems with my other two ford trucks in the field with standard m&s tires. 1977 f150 2 wd and one 1977 f250 460 4wd (without hubs locked)
Conti's suck for a work truck Ford did this same stupid thing on Mustangs in 79 with michelns That same engineer/designer must still be employed.

Hang in there big daddy. I have a King Ranch coming, just changed my order today to the 20's from the 18's. I didn't want the 18's because of the continentals but didnt want 20's because I wanted more rubber than rim. As soon as the truck comes in if I don't like the 20's I am going to buy some OEM 18 king ranch take off's and you can buy my 20's. check back with me in about 6 weeks.
