Also there is talk about a diesel option for the 09 model change, they allready have it overseas, but need one that the epa will like. Thier also disscusing the possibility of bringing back the 4 cylinder 4x4 option with raising gas prices. With the power output of the duratec, and varible timming tech, and such, it could be a fessable option. Acording to ford world, ranger sales are on the rise again due to fuel prices even with an old design. People tend to trust the ranger because it has been around so long, it's an american icon now. Ford would due well to keep it small, give us a 4 door crewcab, and a 4 cylinder gas, or diesel 4x4. The reports say that thier working on enlarging the interior, but keeping the over all size the same, a true compact p/u truck. I just hope all these rumors pan out.
Wendell - all I can say is great minds think alike brother - I agree with everything you said there. I still don't understand that ugly assed 4 door explorer sport track when every other manufacturer were coming out with 4 door trucks - based on there truck models models. Maybe it's just me, but that rediculous t0o tall bed sides with ugly asses bed side hooks......what were they thinking???? Yet they sell the 4 door ranger we all seem to want here overseas....ohh well we can only hope they do it right in 09' -
That sport trac is a yuppie truck for people who want an suv, but don't want to carry a bag of potting soil in the rig with them. The bed is about useless for any real hauling. I must addmitt, that the new sport trac looks better than the old one, and you can get the v-8 that everybody seems to have to have with gas at 3.00 a gallon, but like you, I think money would have been better spent on upgrading the ranger. There's alot more rangers being sold than sport tracs, and if it had a crewcab, there would be even more yet.
