I've got a 79 Stepside I'm restoring now and have acquired a 79 Ranger Lariat rust-free cab that is tu-tone cream and gold with the racetrack chrome.
My question is whether or not the stepsides were offered in tu-tones with the race tracks, and if so, how what the box painted?
I would like to keep the tu-tone colors but would like the box to be painted "correctly" to match. My original 79 stepside that I bought new was monochromatic midnight blue metalic and just used gold colored pin striping. I'm trying to avoid the pin stripes this time around.
Ive only see mono colored step sides they mostly had contrasting stripe kits on them and Im pretty shure that thy didnt put race track trim on step sides. Ive seen some trucks with big decals from the factory on the fenders. There were a set on my southern stepside bed (pics in body work section in my gallery) and the truck my bed came from had 2 4" wide stripes on each side of the cab. But you should paint your truck any way that you feel looks good because that is the point of a custom truck
