I put mine in the door panels just below the wing vent. A 6 inch round and a small tweeter. It looks good and sounds good with the engine off. Why would you ever want or need to put it back to stock? The biggest problem I have, is even with all the sound deading insulation I put in the cab, the exhaust is still too loud to hear the stereo. I was thinking about one of those headliners thats got a speaker built in each corner but thats just going to make me go deaf(er).
Door panel or kick panel? I thought about making something for the kick poanels but you cant on the driver side because of the E brake. So I dont know.unless you put them inside the air vents(humm just gave myself a idea)
I believe LMC and www.blueoveltruckparts.com sell dual channel speakers that mount in the single speaker dah opening allowing you to enjoy stereo sound without cutting door panels or removing gas tanks.
I have a dual channel speaker (in my 67 Mustang) and the total lack of any sound quality could be mostly from the tiny size. I would never use this again, the truck system could be better.
A 10 W central channel? The way it sounds I doubt it`s half that. The 390/410 V8 is the trumper! I didn`t waste the money on the Custom Auto Sound and speakers, the po did. I intend to put the proper sound system with upgraded speakers in the factory door locations.
Where can I buy some of that cold fusion stuff? My truck is thirsty enough that I've been thinking about making the whole 8' bed into a gas tank. Wonder how many gallons that would hold...
If you don't want to cut door panels remove them get some thin wood remove original door panels lay on top of wood draw pattern of where all componets have to go including remounting holes for screws ,where you speaker goes and have someone cover with what interior match you want and re-install.Save old metal panels if you ever want to put back original.

Thats a really good idea, I have seen some pretty nice custom door panel's.
Hey Baitmaster! A short bed should hold 560 gallons or so. Don't forget to baffle it. @ $2.25 p/gal that is a $1250.00 fill up, I get 15 mpg with a 302 so 8400 miles on a tank,,,,,,,,,, but if you add the extra 3920lbs of fuel it may cut into that figure.
Please don't ask how I know!
I put 6x9 3 way speakers in the door panels and they get wet.
(soggy Rockin!) they fit well but I had to space them out 1/2 inch to miss the window going down past the huge magnet.

Roll it like you stole it.

Well I didnt have anything better to do the other day as it was pooring rain outside so I took a 4 1/2 inch specker and went out to the truck, I was looking and on the passenger side of the truck I have plenty of room to build a box and put a 6x9 in it, but on the driver side the E brakes in the way. So I still am thinking about taking out the vent and closing up the hole and puting another 6x9 in there. It should sound really good with 2 6x9's
Ok my ears are so bad all I need is basic tunes or Rush L., but for you guys what wants to get down, I can think of some possibles. How about angled under the dash on either side of the column? New cars have panels there why not some with speakers? How about in front of the heater box? I'm putting an aftermarket a/c there with some legroom left.
For you custom guys move all the gages to one side of the dash, a speaker in the other. Make a custom panel in place of the glove box door for a speaker there, hey, where are your priorities? Do you really need all that junk in there?
No consoles, thats not what you want your babe to straddle. If you are dumb enough to have bucket seats your problem is solved, lots of room for speakers.
Now I haven't scoped any of this out to see if any of it makes sense, and if it's been posted before I haven't seen it. Just add this to the nonsense posted elsewhere.
