Speaker Sizes 2010 F-150

Have a 2010 Lariat with 6 disc CD player, do not have the upgraded sound system. Does anyone know the speaker sizes (6x9), how many speakers, locations, etc? Has anyone upgraded just speakers, if so what brand?

Hello. I to have the 6 disk "premium" system in my 10 Lariat. I really wished it had the updated Sony as it sounded terrible. I replaced the four (one in each door) speakers with 5"x7"/6"x8" Polk Audio 571's. It made quite a difference as there is no distortion anymore. However, it still needs more to make it sound good. I am thinking of adding an amp, small sub, and some component tweeters too.

Thanks. Yep, sounds like I will do the same in the same stage. First I gotta get rid of the stock speakers.

Did you install yourself, seems pretty easy to pop off the door panels?

Yes, I installed them myself. Very easy. Door panels come off easy to.

1) two (three???) screws at bottom of door
2) one screw under cover in door pull cup
3) one screw under trim piece behind door handle.
4) pull up and disconnect electrical connectors from window/door lock switch
5) door pulls straight up then you disconnect connector to power mirror switch (drivers door only)

I left the door latch cable attached and just rested the door out of the way on a box. Still plenty of room to get at the speaker.

The hardest thing I found was when putting the panel back on was getting the door lock push button back in the hole!!!

FYI, Crutchfield has speaker wire adapters that plug into the factory plug and have a +/- on the other end so you don't have to cut your factory harness. It's around $25 for all 4 (buy 2 pair). I'll be doing the same very soon...

I bought my speakers from them and the adapters were included at no additional cost.

6" x 8" is the odd sized Ford speaker size.

A tip: stick a short length of a drinking straw on it, then guide the panel back on it.

I used a hammer and tapped out the plug that the lock slides through and then snapped it back in place once the panel was on again.
I also removed the cable that runs to the door handle so I could just move the door panel out of the way. The nice thing about the size of these trucks is that the speakers are at a comfortable height to work on when sitting on a 5 gallon bucket.
