Question Ranger Fuel Tank

I have 1995 and 1997 Ranger Trucks. I need to get to the top of the fuel tank in the '95 to replace the fuel float. I need to get to the top of the fuel tank in the '97 to replace the fuel filler hose. My question: Is it easier to empy and drop the tanks or is it easier to unbolt the bed and slide it back? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to FTE.

I think most would agree that unless there is damage to the tank or straps, it is easier to remove the bed. Good luck.

I did my fuel pump a couple of weeks ago and I decided to lift the bed. If you want it all the way off you can D/C the wires for lights, but to get to the pump it is easy to get a buddy and lift up the front of the bed high enough to get a block to hold it up. Be sure that you put a towel where the bed will meet the bumper to avoid scratching once it slides back. Itt's not very hard but good luck.
