My 95 Explorer wont start, I checked the fuel rail and there is no fuel. check the switch on pass. side floor and it seams to be set in the down pos.I am going to buy a new fuel pump relay but i dont think this is the problem. Is there a way to test the relay? i think i need to replace the fuel pump. Is it a big job? any little tricks to make the job easier? any help thanks
Shouldn't be too hard to test that relay: it's a pretty basic relay. A voltmeter and a wiring diagram (maybe a jumper wire for grounding the fuel pump test lead in the self-test connector) should be all you need to determine if the relay is closing or not.
Also, make sure the connector on the bottom of the inertia switch is not loose. I had the same problem on my 95 and was ready to put a pump in, and luckily discovered the loose inertia switch connector. It's worth a look.
Well I replaced the relay, check the switch and still no gas, Pulled the tank and it is setting on a block of wood. Need to head to Autozone to pick up a tool to pull the fuel line off the tank so i can get near the pump thanks for the input
Well it was the fuel pump, but I broke one of the steainless steel braided lines right pass the fitting. Is there anything out there to fix it? Do I need to buy a new line from the tank to the fuell filter? Now I cant even get the fitting off the tank.
