Don't wait for cold weather

I DID.We had a pretty mild winter this year so far, unusual for here.About two weeks ago colder temps were forecast with lows around -25 so I figured I'd better check my block heater.(nothing like waiting till the last minute)Of course it didn't work. The end that plugs into the block heater was fried, and so were the terminals on the block heater itself.I figured no problem,as my '86 e-350 had another one on the other side,so I'm still ok for winter, right?Wrong. It was in the same shape as the other one.Now I've got problems.I decide the easiest thing to do is install a circulating block heater.Wrong again.I can't get the block drain screw out on the front right side. Not only is it in a tough to get at spot but being an allen head it stripped out.I didn't want to try any other drain screws because I wanted as short a line as possible from the block to where I was mounting the circulating heater. So, my only option now is replace the two boogered ones(figured if I'm going to drain everything,I might as well replace both & be done with it)This is not a fun job lying in snow in freezing temps in the driveway.Anyway, I replaced both & hope it's the last time I leave things like that until winter comes. What would be wrong with a nice heated garage? Or summer?
