I posted this in the 302 section but didn't get any responses.Is there a way to adjust the mechanical advance on a '78 302?

You have to go to a speed shop or someone who sells high performance parts, and get a centrifugal advance kit. It will have different strength springs and maybe some different weights too. Then you have to take the dist out of the engine, and tear it down, since the weights and springs are under the breaker points mounting plate. It's not much fun, but has to be done for a highly modified engine. Then you have to keep experimenting with different combinations of springs, unless you know somebody with a dist machine who knows what they are doing.
