I'm tryin to figure out what is wrong with my horn. I press the horn, and I get a muted horn sound. I can barely hear it from the cab, and I know nobody else can hear it. could that be my horn relay? I looked at the wiring, and its all pretty cruddy. I also have 2 horns, and I think if I read the manual right, there should be one for the 'country' and one for 'city' driving, right? could one be working, and one not? I'm confused, and thanks for the help in advance
What I did was blow compressed air into them, give a few wraps with a wooden mallet, cleaned off the contacts *Real Good*.
Get a couple of test clips wire and did hook it up directly to the battery.
Then I went to the wreckers and got a couple out of a Lincoln >
Now those are HORNS !!
They come with Two Loud Tones.
It worked.

Seems that both horns should blow. Mine do on the 72.
are they both pluged in? run a wire from the battery `positive` and test them ...that will let you know if they both work.
Anthony, You have a ground problem or lack of. Have you replaced your engine recently, and din't replace the ground strap from the firewall to the engine? Since the cab rides on rubber mounts, you don't have a solid ground to the chassis. try going underneith the truck and finding a place where you can run a wire (scrape away paint)from the cab to the chassis.
That could just be enough to wake the ol horn up again. :-)

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
Thanks for the help guys. Its a 79, f250, and I guess its probably the connections, because they're really cruddy. so I'm gonna go out and work the connections, and check whether or not the horns work themselves. I'll let you know if they still don't work.
