Looks (feels) like the time has come to replace my front rotors. For those of you who have had the pleasure, how difficult of a job it was? Also, where did you buy them and who was the manufacture? I checked out Advanced Auto's website and I was surprised to find there were so many rotors to choose from. I also checked RockAuto's site but the same thing, I'm not sure which rotor is right for me. The Rotors will be installed on a 2002 Supercrew XLT, 4WD, ABS, 5.4L, 5 lug.
As long as they are not seized on the hub, its not a big deal at all. Take off the caliper and the rotor comes right off. It it doesnt come right off, spray the center with PB Blaster and hit it with a BIG hammer. It will come.
I like Wagner rotors from Oreilly. IMHO, it doesnt really matter. A hard part like that is pretty much about the same. The Wagners seem to be one of the best though.
Any of the name brand brake manufacturers should do, Bendix, Raybestos, Wagner, etc. The name brands are usually made in the USA or Canada. Stay away from the cheap rotors. Before you install the new rotors, clean the rust off of the mating surface of the hub and install a thin coating of anti-seize.
