Heya
I've got a 1978 2wd F-150 Custom, and I was wondering how I could go about lifting it. I'm just looking for a couple inches, and am not really looking for the body lift. Are there just simple helper springs or anything like that I can use?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Nov-01 AT 00:18 AM (EST)] How about this- if you look at your front I beams they have a built in 2 1/2 inch drop. So flip them over and your 2 1/2 inch offset will raise the truck 5 inches in the front. But your caster would now be negative. So instead of just flipping the beams, flip them AND trade them left for right. Now you'll have 5 inches more hieght and the same positive caster as before. An add-a-leaf and two inch block in the back ought to level things out. What do the rest of you think ? easy way to lift a 2wd ? DF
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Nov-01 AT 11:29 PM (EST)]Autofab makes 2wd lifts especially for 73 to 79 ford 2 wheel trucks.
Check them out on the web.
I'm interested in this swap, anyone tried it out yet? Four Wheeler September '99 mentione something about this, but I missed that issue. Anyone got a copy they can scan for me? Thanks!
Doc
Indy,
The pages were something like 55-58 in the September '99 Four Wheeler magazine. I ,of course, elected not to buy that one (subscription now though) If you find it, could you scan the article for us PODUNK's? Thanks!
CRJ,
If this method works, it shouldn't cost hardly anything, not counting maintenence in the king pins, etc. while the front-end is apart.
Also I checked out the autofab site and they also have a 65-79 Ford 2WD 4" lift for the front end. I emailed the site today to see what the parts cost and for a time estimate to put it in. They have pictures and some other information too at the site:

is there a site or something with more information about this... Or could u post more info about it. Thanks, oh yea.. i have 31X10.5 tires.. would this matter with this lift method
