has anyone here every used or seen one of those multi carb set-ups for the 2.3? just thinking about upgrading to add some more hp. not sure what mod are needed to handle the extra fuel or how much power it will add.
I'm no huge carb expert, but when I was researching carb options for my MGB that I sold, there was pretty good stuff for Dual Weber carb set-ups. About $1200 to set you back, though, unless you find one some other way for a lot cheaper.
Really, in the end, they are a HUGE pain in the butt to tune and keep running right, and if the engine isn't built to actually put those multi-carb setups to use, why bother?
It's an expensive way to go for looks.
I agree, most factory carbs stink, but those would be just one of many weaknesses on an average 80s smog era engine. I would never replace EFI with that setup for daily driving myself, having owned both carbed and EFI vehicles....
the motor i have is not efi and is built up pretty good. mainly want to drees it up to make it unique. i was told (before i got it) it had a holley 4 barrel on it with nitrous. but that was removed when i got it. now it has a stock carb an intake on it. i just thought it would be an attention getter with a multi carb set-up
Esslinger makes a setup which uses 4 Mikuni snowmobile carbs. Once setup and synchronized they require very little maintenence. I ran them on my race car and loved them, the throttle response and power were awesome! They would be a truly unique setup for a street vehicle and look cool.
Used, no. I let mine go when I sold the engine (it was a 2.0 anyway, takes a different manifold) You could look on Ebay or advertise for them. I don't know what they sell for new these days but I paid 600 bucks for the whole setup about 12 years ago, I'd imagine they're closer to 800 or so now.
