Magnaflow 16614

Just wondering who has this setup on there truck. I was looking to purchase this system. I was reading that it is for the extended cab/ crew-cabs with the short bed. I have a 05 FX4 5.4 Super Cab with the 5.5 bed. Is the short bed considered the 6.5 or my 5.5. I know I don't have the 6.5. I just want to make sure this is the right system before I order it.

I have an 05 screw lariat w/5.5 bed and i had the magnaflow SIDO 16614 installed. That is the correct part#. I had to have it professionally installed and they still had some trouble w/it. Magnaflow didn't send one of the correct pipes needed. I love it though it sounds great!

Are there any exhausts out there that is a simple bolt on? It seems that many people are welding it in place. I used to have a Subaru WRX and its bolt on cat-back exhaust literally bolted in place. I blew a gasket after a year of rompin on the beast and I just replaced it. No need to weld. I read that people with Magnaflow, Flowmaster, and Gibson exhuast all welded their exhaust. They give clamps; are they not strong enought?

The current model # is 17403 it fit's all wheelbases 3.00" outlet with 50 series performance suv muffler, 3.50" stainless logo tip. I paid $180.00 but I think they are more now. At the time I wanted dual side rear exit but they only had the american thunder mufflers available with that kit and that was louder than I wanted. The muffler I have sounds good but is not obnoxious. You should check out there website many options and they have cool links to listen to the different mufflers they offer. I had a friend who works at a dealership put it in. At the time my truck only had 5k on it so it was realitively easy to install. He did say that he used the stock hangers and that it lined up nicely. I don't think he had to cut. I have the stock in top of my garage.

I'm fairly sure the Borla system for these trucks is a "simple" bolt-on. The only problem with a "simple" bolt-on is removal of the stock system. They like to get welded together with rust.

I had a TME system on my volvo, bolt on, no welding. They included some very high quality, broad clamps with it, held the system together nicely. Had no problems with in the 2.5 years it was installed.

on my magnaflow they said to spot weld the tips on there was clamps allso. The only cutting was my old tail pipe, which I heard can be removed in one piece. It took a lot longer than I was told it would take.I had a little trouble getting the 2 tail pipes to match ,but it all came out ok.

I have the magnaflow single 3" on mine. The sound is great, quiet at highway speeds, but if you get on it around town it turns heads. The install was rough as my truck was right at the build cutoff and should have used the 05 system, but had the old 04 style. Magnaflow got the correct length adaptor to me on monday, had tried install previous friday, sat delivery was too expensive for me. They did not charge me for the extra piece, or have me sensd the other one back. Prps to magnaflow on fast resposne and customer service!!
I do have some issues with it after having it on for almost a year.
1. The exit behind the r/r wheel comes straight out and is not swept like stock
2. Ditch the cheesy clamps included and use band style clamps
3. The tip is starting to lose it's shine/ yellow, but the muffler is still shiny?
4. Mine has a leak at the rear joint over the axle because i wanted to move it away from the tire/ still too close in my opinion.

Overall, I'm happy with the Magnaflow. I will be changing it to band clamps and replacing the tip with something different, looking into double wall. Love the sound though.

Also watch with the flowmaster, because at least when I was looking they did not offer stainless steel.

All modern aftermarket systems are bolt on, with no welding necessary. Ive never understood why a person would want to weld one in place.
