Well I put my exhaust on this morning. I'm having alot of trouble getting it aligned correctly. The driverside pipe is perfect but the pass side is giving me the trouble. My truck was built in oct 04. When I ordered the exhaust it came with the 18" pipe the goes into the muffler. Well that was to small, so I thought to myself that if you take the other pipe the one that was on the muffler to begin with and put the other pipe on, it would fit. Well it did and I still don't think that is right, from me measuring I think I need the 26" pipe and not the 18". Could the way I have it set up now be the reason why the pass side is not lining up right. When I mean not lining up right the driver side is straight back. The pass side is off to the left alittle bit and down. I tried adjusting all the clamps and move it to where it should be but still doesn't help. ALso another bad thing that is going to happen, when I was tighening the 3" clamp onto the muffler I think it started to strip. I read the directions and it says approx. 65 ft lbs of torque for the clamps. Well I set my wrench at 60ft lbs. They way it is now it runs, sounds really good but I don't think the front clamp would hold it for 2 long I can still wiggle the fron of the muffler and the pipe. I think it's because I need the long pipe for the front and not the one they sent.
Did you strip your 3" band clamp to or no. Maybe I just tightened it to much. Do you have any idea of where I might be able to another one? Do you still have this exhaust on your truck, and did you do anything to fix it.
I didn't break the 3 inch clamp but I did break a couple of the 2.5 inch ones. I still have it on my truck and love it. Napa sells some nice 2 bolt stainless steel band clamps made by EasySeal., you might give one of them a try.
Just had the 16614's installed on new 06 fx4 scab today. Perfect fit, shop installed it in 1/2 hour. Had similiar Borla catback system on 05 screw. Magnaflows are louder! Only 350 miles on truck so no red lining yet. The left tail pipe on Magnaflow does not cross in front of differential cover like Borla's, the entire unit sits up under truck nicer. Borla's are sweet though, mellower rumble, ( I wanted louder for the fx4 ) Also, when installing Borla's, one tail pipe had to be heated to be bent to line it up straight. Stock system did not need to be cut off.
