Hi just wondering how a person would check to see if the electric push button 4X4 button is working my ranger will not go into 4 wheel drive but the lite on the dash board show it is in 4 wheel drive. Is there any way i can take that 12 volt motor off and see if it works or not.Is ther any trick to put this in 4X4 i have auto hubs? Any help would be nice thanks
Do you hear a clicking sound from the front hubs while in 4wd? If so the hubs could be shot as they are notorious for grenading. If that isn't the case, if I remember correctly there is a connector on the t-case you could check to see if you are getting power down that far but I'm not sure of the electronic motor in the t-case.
well there are a couple things you can do or test on your 4x4 and yes im having the same problem.
1 you can test the control module behind the drivers side seat it is behind a cover. now there are 3 plugs 1 high and 2 low i think it is gray any way unplug the plug with 2 clips inside. next turn on over the key do not start and push that little white button on the lower side. if the light stays red replace your control module if is blikes its your shift motor. or you mite try resetting your control module by pushing that white botton
first before you do antyhing. there are also 2 or 3 sensors on yout trasfer case replace them. you can tap your shift motor if it is stuck mite loosen it. let me know what happens i need to replace my motor nappa has them for 88.oo -w- core
