Does your A4WD engage smoothly?

Mine will engage after about half throttle, even without losing traction. Maybe they work different year to year, or maybe mine is not working right. I pulled the fuse today and it made a diffence in power, I really think the mixed tires I have were almost binding up the front end. I think I am going to run a switch.
