I have a 93 Explorer with a 4.0. It seems to have a surge at medium throtle and medium load. The air cleaner is good and I put 2 bottles of injection cleaner thru it with no change. Any ideas?
General maintenance - plugs, wires, PCV valve, vacuum leaks, O2 sensors, clean MAF sensor...You don't give much info here. How many miles, what kind of maintenance history, what's a "medium load"?
Ok lets make this a little clearer. When I climb a hill but I'm taking it easy (not getting into the gas to hard) the engine surges slightly as if I were stepping on the throtle and letting off slightly. It's not a big surge but it's there and tells me something isn't quite right
Thanks for your input
Don - really know what you've done so far and what results each action have provided. How many miles is a big quetion. A 1993 like mineis, I assume the miles are up there. Have you ever cleaned the MAF sensor? have you evey chnaged the plug wires. i went about 150K mile before I ever changed my wires - I had symptoms like you are describing but never got a PCM code for it.
