Rear door problem

The rear passenger door on my 2000 EXP EB is acting up. When the child safety lock is set tot he unlock position, the door handle does not open all the way up. After a couple of tugs it sets the child lock to the locked position. Regardless, this requires me getting out of the truck and walking around to let my 5 year old at school. And it is cold here right now!

I took the trim panel off and did not see anything obvious. However, the problem is probably hidden inside the door.

Anyone have any ideas? Does AllDataDIY have a diagram for all the door parts?
