Interesting read. After studying it, I can see where I screwed up on porting my 351W heads. I gasket matched, and that was my mistake. I know I never could get that thing to idle worth a crap. Anything 2500 or higher and it would scream.

I am right in the middle of doing my 460, and I wanted to learn a little more before I did. Glad I found this article. With that in mind, I do have a questions.

Obviously, I will not be gasket matching, but I will be cleaning up the Intake flow a bit, casting ridges and what not.

The big thing, and what I have not been able to find is the EGR bump in the Exhaust port. I do not want to open the port, only smooth the flow. I have been looking for a picture of the port on the 460 after it has been ported. I have the D3VE-A2A heads. I am concerned about taking to much of the bump out and getting into the EGR Channel. I am the type that needs visual reference to understand. I have read topics here(FTE) that say flush is to much, that it will crack or you hit the channel.

This will be an everyday driver. I do pull a 27 foot camper, boat, wheelers. I am looking to increase low end torque. Any thing over 4000 rpm just will not be hit with this one. I will be getting and RV Cam that will help the torque.

I will be running premium, but I want it to run on pump gas, so higher pistons and such are out.

Setup:
460, C6 auto, 4X4, 78 F100, (Engine 83 F250) Carb, Elec Ing.
