445 stroker

Hey its been many years since I've been on here! I have myself a 445 stroker bottom end.
Eagle crank
Eagle H-beam rods
Mahle forged pistons

Ive got a set of C8AE heads I ported years ago when I had access to a flow bench and had got 300cfm on the intake and I think 200 on the exhaust, but it couldve been 170? I don't remember the exhaust number. Either way I think when I measured these heads they had a 71-72 cc chamber. With these heads and my pistons and deck height and a normal .044" gasket its set up to run on pump gas at 9.6 or 9.8:1.

I'm thinking now that I want to put it together with aluminum heads. Is there a head out there with a smaller combustion chamber? Or would I have to get another set of pistons to get me to 10.5:1? The only point in going to aluminum is to bump compression.

Oh and I got a perf RPM intake. Not sure how much of a deciding factor that is to lining up to intake ports on other types of heads. It will work with my current set of heads but not sure of with the aluminum. Its been so many years since I've messed with these details haha! Thanks guys

But I just thought of something else....higher compression is gonna mean higher rpm, so a single plane intake and a different cam than I already got for it, probably a solid cam. Wish I hadn't bought any top end stuff yet haha

Why is higher compression necessarily higher RPM? Degree the cam for low-end, which will bring up the dynamic compression anyway.

The aluminum heads from Edelbrock I've heard are basically the D2TE/C8AE heads, so they are going to be no different than your existing heads, except for the valve sizes, exhaust is 1.650 vs. 1.560 on the C8AE (if I recall correctly).

What are your ultimate goals for this motor? Pickup truck or car?

Well no higher compression doesn't have to mean higher rpm. But it will allow you do be able to turn higher rpm and make power.

This is going in a truck that will be on the street as a toy, and will get used for competitions like mud runs, truck pulls, and tug of war.

Its on 37s but when money allows I want something different. Its 4.10 gears with a D60 front and sterling 10.5 rear.

Right now if I remember right I have the Crane 941 cam for it. I also heard that the FT oil pan was an option to get a bigger pan and not have to spent like $500. Any ideas where to find one? Or an I gonna have to pull one off a junk dump truck?
