My front end was squeeking badly last night/afternoon. I took it into work (auto dept. at a college) this morning and used a needle attachment to grease everything up in the front end. I searched on the site and found out that this should get rid of the squeeking. It did, no more squeeking.
My question is "Does the squeeking indicate bad ball joints or just dry from lack of grease?" I checked the ball joints and they dont move at all. I am going on vacation Monday for a week and dont want to have any suprises on the road. A few of the professors worked with me on it and they said leave it alone since the joints dont move, just looking for a second oppinion.
if the ball joints dont have any excess play, then they are o.k. ***** are not normally the cause of squeeking. normally that is a dry bushing such as the mounts for the stabalizer arm.
It squeeked whenever i bounced the front end or turned the wheels. It only squeeked when weight was on the front suspension. I greased all 4 ball joints and all 4 tie rod ends and it went away.
