Are you running 2.250" and 1.760" Valves in your KCIII's " I ran accross today some Manley Severe Duty Stainless with the Tulip undercut for better flow... 3/8" stem.. $175 for the Intales and $90 for the exhaust...
BYW I was looking at the 943 springs Jays running..and I swear I read those were only good for a .650" lift Cam.. that might be why at 6000rpm + runs, I have heard he has a float problem? JMO..
I'm running a set of 2.25/1.75 titaniums with 11/32 stems. Before you choose your valves you need to consult the head manufacturer to see if there is any advantage to running the thinner stems. Sometimes there is.
I believe the story with Jay was that he tried 919 springs on the dyno at the suggestion of the Comp tech line. They floated. He replaced them with 943 springs and gained some rpm. He then reshimmed them and got 6800+. I'm pretty sure he won Drag Week on 943's. Personally, I would be looking for something about 240/640 if I were running stainless valves, just to be sure. Let's face it, running Dove HR heads less than 7000rpm is wasting alot of HP potential. Just wait, if you build this thing right it'll jump to 7000 like it aint even hard to do.
I can't wait. Can't you sell a kid or something to hurry this along?
I know the Titianiums arent cheap....Yeah your right..I should go along with whats advised to use with the heads... I was looking at the K-Motion K-900 springs.. I know that Comp has that new Pac springs...the 26000 series....And I have guys tell me that there runing the Chebby Comps Behieve springs in there fords and like em??
Its real tricky here..To much spring and tear the hell out of your valve train..and not enough and you loose Hp on the big end....
I see that more research needs to be done..But i have your suggestion written Down.. I was Talking too Paul S. yesterday..and he said that Jim makes a adapter Plate for he's HD roller Assy...that utilize the center head bolts to hold the rocker Assy in Place...for heavier spring loads..Or should I say head studs...
I'm with ya there. If you can tie into the head studs, like the T&D system does, then you can run some pretty good pressures without fear. Also, those 26000 springs seem like the way to go if you can afford them.
LOL.. Yeah My Last sim run Hp peaked at 7100rpm... Go figure and that was with a 4.340" bore and a 4.500" Arm...LOL.. Just Playing with Numbers.. But I only picked up the bottom end at about 3000RPM 21lbs of Tq..and about 15hp on the big end?? LOL..I forget just what it was...Have you decided what kinda stall your going to run with your PA C4??

I really don't want it to stall under 4000. I'll have to get with an expert to make sure it matches my setup before I buy one. With my tires and gears, shifting at 7000 will recover well over 4000 on both shifts, so the only time it'll be under stall will be first gear.
Well Scoot. I'am going to try and get by with the Coan 3500 stall I traded for my TCI verter a few months ago...LOL.. the Guy had it behind a stock 428 in a stang...and said he had to rev it to the moon to get the Car to leave from a stop light..LOL..
I checked into the prices on the Titainium Valve's for my build.. And I can tell you right now, the only thing that will be Titainium in my valvetrain will be the retainers!! LOL..
I'll just use the Severe Duty Manleys with the under cut tulips... John's having Dove call me next week when he make's it back to Ohio...So we can go over this..I know in my head which way I want to go...But !! There maybe a better way for the same Money? I dont want to screw these's up...LOL...
Russ, I'll be honest. I got the titaniums for free. When I bought my tunnelports they had these brand-new Ti valves in them. When I sold the TPorts I got all my money out of them, but the valves stayed with me. If I build another FE it will have stainless valves. The gain isn't worth the cost. Just put in a little stronger valve spring and be done with it. The stainless valves last longer anyway. I would probably use the same valves they use.
Brian, have you ever driven such a vehicle at those HP levels and shift points. I'm having a real hard time seeing you in that lifted 4x4 shifting at 7000rpm, and approximately 700 HP, and keeping it straight or just keeping the shiny side up for that matter. It's gonna be one wild ride.
Well Brian thanks for the heads up....I have never ran Titainium Valve's in any of my hotrods..But I have run Sodium filled valve's once..and only once!! LOL...I didnt know they fell apart like they do.. and I have a funny feeling ? that they cause harmonics !
I have a meeting Via phone set up for next week, Jim Dove and John Lowe and I will have a conference talk about whats best....I spoke with John this week and he said a new run of Blocks just came off the press (So to speak) and he said they look real good..but he cant ship any out until he gets Jim Signature on them...
So thats Great for the Guys waiting for Dove blocks...LOL... I asked John If the problem with the tooling has bee addressed for the Big Heads...and he said they looked real good to him ..But....those will be replacement heads for the other's that are out there to the Pro/stock guys....and Once Jim approve's the tooling and Molds..they'll be back in production for the rest of us Poor boys!! The last I talked to Jim..He was talking about looking into a little more meat in the rocker stand riser area..
This is just bits and piece's I have picked up from Jim and 2 of his Engineers..And from what I take..the Pro/Stock guys were having a problem with the first runs..with the Threads wanting to pull out with the Really Big Sticks..So I think thats why Jim wants to have more meat there and possibly put some inserts there..I suggested Timeserts? But he just knows me as a Consumer an not an X Aerospace Engineer..LOL
So I should have some more news after Christmas?? I ''ll keep ya posted..LOL..Seems Like Jay has a real interest in a set too??...But My names on the list before his..LOL..Of course we know with the change He has...My stuff will be collecting dust when his project is running!! LOL.. Damn Dude..I couldnt find any Buyer's for the GROWN Kid!! I guess I'am stuck with still feeding her and The Grandkid?? LOL...
BTW Brian..I talked to KC yesterday also...And He runs a Pond block in one of his personal Cars..and said he love's it....He said the 4.500" arm will clear the Cylinder bottoms..But!! Yeah Might have to run a smaller Base circle on the Cam?? He's Running the 4.375" arm and said it wirks ****..No extra machining... FYI...

No question She's a handfull. Zero to "pissed off" in no time. In fact, like I wrote before, when I finally got it working the way I thought it should, I let up before I hit the 1/8 mile mark. I was just not ready for it. This coming summer, once I've got the cage finished, and the 5-point harnesses installed I'll feel a little better about staying in it. This concern is exactly why my trials will all be 1/8 mile. There is no way I'm going the 1/4 with these big spongy tires.
Whats kind of scary is that I'm sure I've got more power in it. I think I'm still retarded on timing by as much as 4-6 degrees.
Yeah Scoot I noticed the Bounce in your run...I dont know that much about off roading trucks, But I would think they would make something with a stiffer siderwall to take some of the Yo-Yo out of the ride?
I have never run that kind of HP on the street..But I do know 650hp in a 2200lb Altered runs with a short wheelbase....YeeeHaaaaw!! LOL...
And G, to answer your Q..John wouldnt give me any info on the blocks other than what I told you, He said he leave's that up to Jim ...
But from what Keith told me....He could have built his motor with any of the blocks and decided to try the Pond block..and he said he loves it?
So as of right now..I have my name on the list for the Heads...and I'll still be going with pond..and Probably have KC do the final machining.. And I still think I can get out the door with the finished block right at 4K and about $200 for shipping... I think after the first of the year. I'll look for s second Job and see if I cant get the heads and block both this year..and worry about the Internals in 07....LOL..easier said than done.. I meen how hard can it be to flip burgers at McDucks?? LOL
