Part of the bounce in the video was from the rear tire air pressure. I'm guessing it was under 5 psi. I'll probably end up with 10-12 to get a good contact patch, and that'll stiffen the sidewalls quite a bit. What it really needs is a better suspension. I have been drawing up a new tube frame with link suspension front and rear using Fox Air Shox instead of springs. It should (when I get the money to build it) stiffen the chassis a ton, and create a very tuneable suspension. It will also take about 300lbs off the truck. It is a necessity if I intend to get down to 4000lbs.
As to the motor plate. I had concerns initially about it holding. Then I saw a top fueler that had two little 3" x 8" wide strips of aluminum holding the front of the engine into the chassis. I don't worry now. As long as I don't get a bunch of chassis flex, that twists the aluminum, it won't break. I don't really notice any sound of vibration. There's so much already.
I hear ya about the second job! I've considered it too.
