Need help finding overhead console gauge

hello I tried to find a better section to post this but could not find a classified section? Anyways the gauge that shows mpg etc on my 99 PSD just stopped working and after taking it apart i can see the screen is fried. Where can i get just the gauge as all the ones on ebay etc are for the whole entire console?

You're most likely going to be reduced to hunting in the junkyard if all you want is the screen.

Like Kwik said, if you want just the circuit board (with the display attached) you'll likely have to hit the junk yards. I've never had luck there though. The dealers only sell the entire unit with the inner and outer shell (for around $500). I did see a circuit board only on ebay just last week, but it was the only one I've seen in years.

Before giving up, you might want to try repairing the chips on the board. Check my post on the SD forum just a few minutes ago or check my gallery for detailed instructions.

As for the screen/display being "fried" you are probably just seeing the dark circle in the upper left corner that is present on all the displays - it doesn't mean the display is damaged.

Good luck!

Yup. The little surface-mount resistors have very little solder to attach them. Sometimes it gets intermittant. With the plastic bezel off, turn the truck on and gently push on each of these little resistors in turn. Pushing on one of them may restore the display, and you then know which has become "cold soldered". Unless you're REAL good with a very fine soldering iron, and experienced with surface-mounted devices, take the board to a TV repair shop and have it repaired professionally. Make sure that THEY can do surface-mounted stuff, too.

I know this is a very old thread but running a search, this is one of them I found.

I have seen the links with the pictures of some bad boards where they needed to be resoldered or have a replacement resistor soldered in but I have a question.

My board works if I "twist" it by grabbing each corner and sometimes even works for a few seconds when I let go. This leads me to believe it is a loose/bad solder joint. Problem is, everytime I hold the board and push in on one of the resistors (per instructions from other threads), the board lights up regardless as I am "twisting" it again. Should I try and resolder everything? I would prefer not to as there is more of a chance I could mess something up. lol None of the resistors "look" bad but here are some not so great pictures.

I don't know about resoldering everything, but for sure all the places on that board where it's been overheated.
